Amy M. Farr, Chamber and Economic Development Director
Amy Meert Farr is the Director of the Hartford Area Chamber of Commerce and Hartford Area Development Foundation. She began in this role in February 2021, but she is far from a newcomer. Amy has lived in Humboldt/Hartford area for nearly 20 years, and her commitment to businesses in these communities is steadfast.
This is home. In 2002, Amy chose to move with her husband, Johnny to his family’s homestead in rural Humboldt. They have raised their two children there and established long-enduring relationships with people here. Amy was born and raised in Sioux Falls where she witnessed her parents work hard to provide for her and her six siblings. Her family taught her the importance of sticking together and how valuable it is to establish roots in a community.
Over two decades of dedicated work, Amy realizes her passion is in advocating for others and in supporting them to achieve their goals. She worked for the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce for nearly two decades. Amy worked with member businesses and managed hundreds of volunteers, providing quality experiences connecting leaders in business across the area. She believes the way to get ahead is by collaborating for good. Amy is a graduate of Leadership Sioux Falls and participated in the Institute of Organizational Management program through the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Amy has volunteered with Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), American Red Cross, SME Sioux Falls and The United Way. She has also spent time volunteering for community and religious organizations. When she has worked in industries beyond Chambers of Commerce, Amy has chosen work that has meaning for her personally. From her time early on as a nursing assistant in long term care facilities to later working for an insurance company she watched her parents operate for decades, Amy recognizes all work has value. As the Director of HADF and HACC, she will share that message, and she will fiercely advocate for area businesses and the people who make them possible.
