Jesse Fonkert, Chamber and Economic Development Director
Hailing from Mobridge, SD, Jesse Fonkert attended Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD, double majoring in Business Administration and Government/International Affairs, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Between his studies and extracurricular activities around campus, Jesse interned for several years with First PREMIER Bank followed by internships with the Office of Representative Kevin Cramer (ND), the Lincoln/Minnehaha County Economic Development Associations, and the Sioux Falls Development Foundation. Beginning in January 2015 and immediately upon graduation, he accepted a position with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in Washington, D.C. as the Program Analyst in the Office of Commissioner Tony Clark.
Upon the completion of Commissioner Clark's term, Jesse began thinking of his next career move and returning to South Dakota. After interviewing for the Chamber and Economic Development Director position, Jesse was offered the job by the Hartford City Council and began work on July 6th, 2016.
Jesse currently resides in Hartford and is an active member of the Jamboree Days Committee, West Central Junior Achievement Board of Directors, Minnehaha County Economic Development Association Board of Directors, Augustana GOLD Board of Directors, and St. John American Lutheran Church.
